Update: In a more positive turn of events, Sony has decided to reverse its decision to shut down the PS3 and PS Vita stores almost a month after announcing its plans Come from Sports betting site VPbet. The PSP will retire as planned on July 2.

Original story follows…

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation stores for its older consoles–the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita–will close later this year. This means features like buying games will no longer be possible on those platforms, likely signaling the end to their lifecycles though you will still be able to download the games you own.

According to an FAQ on the official PlayStation website, the PS3 and PSP stores shut down on July 2. The PS Vita store, meanwhile, closes up on August 27. As a result of the stores shuttering, several functions will stop working, including purchasing digital …

Creating the ultimate online casino guide- Insights from Per Gunnar Olsen

You won’t have to look far online for a guide on how to navigate an online casino. The real skill is finding a simple guide that gets to the point. Many of the ones you’ll find online are long, sprawling monologues that could be edited into more digestible and readable versions. They’re not poor guides, but you can often find what you need from casino guides in a few minutes or less.

“The key to an online casino guide is finding one that focuses on your favorite type of casino game. Find one that gives you the key things to look out for, whether it is roulette, blackjack or poker, and scalp the best information you need. You don’t need to spend all day rifling through lengthy passages of text.” – Per Gunnar Olsen.

This quote sums it up quite succinctly. The best online casino guide will quickly touch on the positives and negatives of a service or game, and provide you with a better insight before you choose which casino you’re look…

Illinois iGaming Legislation Stalls as Session Ends

As the Illinois legislative session came to a close last week, efforts to legalize online casinos in the state encountered another setback. Two significant proposals — House Bill 2239, presented by State Rep. Edgar Gonzalez Jr., and Senate Bill 1565, sponsored by State Sen. Cristina Castro — were unable to progress beyond the committee stage, effectively halting any movement on the issue until the next legislative session begins in January 2025.

Proposed iGaming Tax Revenue in Illinois Fails to Advance Amid Legislative Gridlock

Both bills aimed to establish a legal framework for online casinos in Illinois, proposing a 15% tax on the revenue generated by these operators. The sponsors of these bills emphasized the potential tax revenue …

New Mexico lawmakers considering live-dealer games legalization legislation

In the western American state of New Mexico and legislators have reportedly begun scrutinizing proposed legislation that could allow local commercial horseracing tracks to begin offering live games of craps, poker and blackjack alongside a full retinue of sportsbetting.

According to a Monday report from the Las Cruces Sun-News newspaper, there are five horseracing venues in ‘The Land of Enchantment’ offering patrons a range of slots as well as video versions of roulette, poker and blackjack. But these properties are purportedly prohibited from running live-dealer and ‘spinning wheel’ games or operating sportsbooks featuring markets on anything other than horse races.

Desirable dividend:

The newspaper reported that New Mexico State Representative Ray Lara wants to change this current state of affairs and officially proposed a fresh measure earlier today that would permit these facilities to transform into fully-fledged casinos offering a …

A new Darksiders game is in development- ‘The Four Horsemen will ride again’-

Watch On

Six years on from Darksiders 3 (and five from great but overlooked spin-off Darksiders Genesis), I’ll admit I’d started to think THQ Nordic had given up on the series. Not so, apparently—a new teaser tells us we should be “prepared to ride again”.

There’s not much to the video, first shown at the end of the THQ Nordic Showcase 2024—just a shot of the Charred Council (those fiery rock lads that order the Four Horsemen around), looking the same as ever. An accompanying Xbox Wire blog post, however, seems to confirm that this does indicate a new game is on the way: “It won’t be long until we reveal more about where the Darksiders series is going next, but for now, know this… the Four Horsemen will ride again.”

Huh, does that mean this sequel will feature all four of them, instead of focusing in on one or two on their own as previous games have? Maybe even letting you switch between them, or play them all together in co-op? OK, that’s all th…

Microsoft president grovels before Congress, takes responsibility for a ‘cascade’ of cybersecurity errors

Congress is currently holding Microsoft’s feet to the metaphorical fire as it gives the company a thorough toasting for what a government report has called a “cascade” of “avoidable errors”. The net result of Microsoft’s mess up is that Chinese hackers breached the tech giant’s network last year, allowing access to the email accounts of senior US officials including the Secretary of Commerce.

Speaking before Congress at the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee (via CNN), Microsoft President Brad Smith duly grovelled before law makers, conceding every failing highlighted in the US Cyber Safety Review Board’s report.

“Microsoft accepts responsibility for each and every one of the issues cited in the CSRB’s report,” Smith said. “We acknowledge that we can and must do better, and we apologize and express our deepest regrets to those who have been impacted.”

Reportedly, the hack involved agents of China’s Ministry of State Security, who creat…

Things I’ve missed- Windows 11 lets you ‘End Task’ from the taskbar, but you have to turn it on yourself

I like to consider myself hip, down with the kids, and on point with the latest tech developments. But even someone with their nose to the ground hunting out useful Windows features makes the occasional miss, and this one’s something I think I’ll use rather often. Turns out Windows 11 lets you “End Task” from the taskbar itself, but you have to enable it specifically.

Rather than having to launch the Task Manager to kill a non-responsive program (a process that always feels like bringing in the heavies), a simple tweak means it becomes a right-click option for any program in the taskbar misbehaving.

To enable the feature, first make sure your Windows 11 install is updated to the latest version (via Tom’s Hardware). Then open the settings menu, either by using the Win+I shortcut combo or through the Start and Search menus. Click System in the sidebar, and you’ll find a “For developers” tab.

Sitting there, plain as day, is an option to enable an End Task option whe…
